Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is unhappy with former employers Chelsea being added to the final 32 of the competition saying: "You can't give a bonus to teams who have failed," - fair enough.
The final will take place in the Amsterdam Arena on May 15
Patrick Kluivert is to be the man pulling out the home teams for the draw - good choice UEFA!
Kluivert played for both Ajax and Newcastle so has an interest in this draw, luckily (for the Magpies) they can't play each other YET
If you're watching and like me, you didn't get any of that explanation from UEFA here are the official rules:
Once again teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other in the first round of competition, seeded teams (Champions League rejects and selected Europa League group winners) will play the second legs at home. The round of 32 will be drawn first, with those ties then split into the round of 16 immediately afterwards. The ties will be played on the February 14 and 21.
We're actually about to get started! Stay tuned...
FC BATE Borisov v Fenerbache
Inter Milan v FC Cluj
Kluivert said he'd help out his pal Figo and get Inter a decent draw which he's managed
Zenit St Petersburg v Liverpool FC
Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool face a tough trip to Russia - tough draw for the Reds there
Dynamo Kyiv v Girondins Bordeaux
Bayer Leverkusen v Benfica
Newcastle United v FC Metalist Kharkiv
Long away trip for Pardew's side but they should be confident of going through to the final 16
Atletico Madrid v Rubin Kazan (the English teams have dodged a bullet there)
Anzhi Makhackkala v Hannover 96
AC Sparta Praha v Chelsea
Benitez will be very happy with facing Praha there - decent draw for the Blues

The latest from Spurs Secretary Spurs Darren Eales: "It's a tough draw, Olympique Lyonnais are doing well in the French league at the moment, I think this is the first time for nine years they haven't been in the Champions League knockout stage, so it's going to be a tough game but there were a lot of tough teams, we're happy to not travel too far and it will be exciting for the fans.
"We'll be asking Hugo [Lloris] which way to go, he'll be excited to face his old team.
"We played them [Inter] the Champions League, Bale got a hat-trick at the San Siro and we beat them at White Hart Lane when they were the champions, but we have to beat Lyon first."
Here's the view from AVB as eloquently put as ever: "It's a big game. Lyon are a club with many trophies and are a top team. It's a huge fixture and will fuel excitement."
